| Collection/special features | the very strange oval house, a good Italianate garden, vineyard and local wine to purchase! |
| Dog friendly? | On leads and in park only. There is free-ranging livestock in the park, so dogs really can’t be allowed off the lead. |
| Child friendly? | There are special and free (£5 returnable deposit) activity backpacks for kiddies – they are a bit ‘worthy’ though, in my opinion. |
| Description |
1,800 acres of wooded parkland, created in part by 'Capability' Brown. The gardens surrounding the house were created in the first half of the 19th century by the First Marquess of Bristol. Those in the formal Italian style to the south of the house feature the Gold and Silver Gardens and the Temple Rose Garden. A raised terrace walk separates the south garden from the park. Beyond the church are the remnants of an 18th-century garden of which the summerhouse and ornamental canal still survive. The former kitchen garden is now a vineyard producing Ickworth wines. |
