| Description |
Richard Sheridan, the dramatist, owned the property in the early nineteenth century and extended the Long Walk which is a major feature of the garden and later in the century another owner planted the grounds with 20,000 trees! In 1906, the garden was redesigned as a setting for Mrs Greville, a well known Edwardian hostess, to include a walled rose garden with arching pergolas, lawns and landscape walks. King George VI and the Queen Mother honeymooned here. |
