Making the right choice with your Lawn Tractor

The are a number of key questions you need to be asking when you are considering a new garden tractor.

  1. Is access an issue? In which case one of the small riders are ideal. Being very narrow they will usually fit through gateways.
  2. Are you wanting stripes? If so there is really only one option, a Westwood tractor with a powered grass collector.
  3. Are you always going to want to collect the grass? In which case the best grass collectors are the rear collecting machines. The grass has the shortest distance to travel with this type of collecting which gives the best performance and minimises the chance of clogging.
  4. Do you want to mulch? Our advise would be don’t buy a tractor that can not mulch. You may want to collect the grass most of the time but mulching is ideal and in the middle of the summer when the grass is at the shortest and you are just keeping on top of it mulching will save time and will benefit the lawn.
  5. You never want to collect the grass? In which case you require a side discharge machine. The benefits are you never have the time consuming job of emptying the grass box and you won’t get any problems of clogging if the grass is to long or wet.
  6. Do you want to tow accessories? Most tractors come with a pin hitch to allow the towing of a trailer or any other towed accessory. It is important to make sure you have an idea of your requirement and ensure you have a tractor with enough power. Pulling a chain harrow will require more power than pulling a trailer.
  7. Pre-Delivery Inspections

Every tractor we seel (apart from the Castel XE70 which doesn’t require it) goes through a full PDI for the machine to be built, set up and tested prior to dispatch. This ensures that the tractor is 100% ready just requiring petrol to start. The PDI is included in the price of the tractor. There is no extra charge.
