Lawn Care: Mowers for Difficult Lawns

If your lawn is actually full of trees, or tends to be chewed up by the kids playing football, or is just left to be a wilderness, a high wheeled mower will give you greater manoeuvrability and if you combine this with a rear bag collection system, you’ll find it easier to travel around a large number of obstacles like trees or goalposts in the lawn!

If alternatively, your lawn is sloped or downright hilly, a self-propelled walk-behind mower is easier to manage than one that you have to push – again, large rear wheels will give you extra control in difficult terrain. With a walk-behind mower, always mow across an incline, and never pull a mower back towards your feet.

For the larger garden, every ride-on mower will cope with varied terrain, although some mowers handle better on slopes than others.

For a real jungle of a lawn, garden tractors have the highest horsepower and are the toughest beasts for dealing with difficult circumstances, however there are safety issues to be aware of when using ride-on mowers and garden tractors
